    Makes sense from a mass/weight perspective. I wonder if Dent had ever seen or heard of a Sizwhell (or whatever it's called) cut. I'm STILL trying to track down the origin of this cut.

    Honestly, I think between Jer's Fundamentals book and the Working Climber DVD series, you can learn 99.9% of what you need to know in the tree care industry...those in the know, know what I am talking about.

    I heard over the years that Dent gave up on using Dutchmans to try and steer a tree into the fell. Too many variables. Anyone know about this?

    Burnham, is it true that later on in Dent's career he stopped teaching the "Dutchman" cut because he felt that it was unreliable at best? I forget where I heard that from.
