You bet Jer that I haven't forgotten about Finley as my avatar shows :)
As a matter of fact, I have quite a few stories from Finley's 'Rigging Shack' where he talks about his days as a High Climber. A few years back (after Finley had passed), I contacted his son-in-law and others who had taken...
My pleasure guys/gals. Enjoy. Great stuff on that DVD.
Yes he did. But what I am looking to do is focus on 1-2 old time high climbers from the 1950-1960's, with a focus on their daily life as both climbers and loggers. It is extremely hard to gather enough material on them to print a biography...
For those of you who would like to see more of Hap Johnson and other old-time High Climbers, the tape "When Loggers Climbed Trees" is now available in DVD. For $10 bucks, you can't go wrong. Here's the ordering info...
Bump for this thread.
Still haven't given up my goal of writing a book about the life and times of the old high climbers, but boy I never knew how difficult it can be!

John T Labbe & Lynwood Carranco's "A logger's lexicon"
I was able to purchase this great book when it first came out, and it is one of my main sources for research in the book that I am writing on the life of the old time High Climber.
Boy, I take my hat off to Jerry B. and his book writing...
Wow Jer, 14' on the butt is a huge tree to be flip lining! You are definitely one of the people that I will be contacting with questions on high climbing when I get to writing the story about Hap and the old time high climbers.
I'd love to hear more on your reasons why some of the small ones...

Would they have embraced other...
I know that I've posted about Hap Johnson before, but I just recently found this picture of him climbing this giant Spruce.
Hard, hard work for sure...
