There are better V twins out there than Harleys. And I would never describe any of BMW's motorcycles as sterile, they are widely known for being a little idiosyncratic and characterful. I love the beat of a boxer twin BMW.

I had an Ossa 350 trial bike. I gave it away to a friend, who left it in a shed when he moved. Would be worth a bit now...

Over here, you can do an advanced riding course with police motorcyclists. When they teach you to 'make progress' quickly cross country, they teach you to use the whole road. Buzz knows more about it than me, maybe he can chime in.

CBX 1000 was very well built for the time. Much better than the rubber framed Z1300
