    Fighting The Heat!!!

jugs of frozen water are your ice packs. Submerge the jugs and packs in the water. If you need water, you can drink it from the jug as it melts. If not, just put the jug back into the freezer overnight.

If you get jugs of water, you can freeze them and reuse, plus you have clean drinking water, as needed.

    Fighting The Heat!!!

a solution, like salt water will be colder, but will likely deteriorate the fabric, I'd guess. They will pay for themselves by saving in travel/ setup/ breakdown time on days that we cut it short. I tell my groundie, as soon as they feel like they can't be as safe as normal, its time to stop...

    Fighting The Heat!!!

Thanks, Merle. Our heat wave has been cancelled. Had some thunder last night, which is rare here. What was supposed to be 106 on Saturday in Oregon is only mid 90s. I was going to buy Dahlia the 30-90 pound capacity pink kids cool vest. I still might today.

    Fighting The Heat!!!

We had some heat recently. Nothing big, but we're Coasties. I could see the new guy sweating away in the sun, working in a less than really efficient way. Probably needed to cool down. He was arguing with me about how his way was plenty efficient, and if it were 5 to 10 degrees hotter, he'd work...

    Fighting The Heat!!!

How big a pain? I have a chest freezer. Is that the big deal, having enough ice? I could probably do with a back-up set and only one change-out, with how our weather is here, typically, and on a real hot one, swap more than that.

    Fighting The Heat!!!

I'm considering these for the summer. Its as someone (Butch?) said, it might not feel like its working during the day, but at night, after work is done, you'll know. How good is it to have AC in the truck to cool down between jobs or what not (I don't have it in my trucks)? It would be...

    Fighting The Heat!!!

Luckily, its an 'off the shelf' item, so just order it as the heat dictates/ work allows. Somehow, I guess its being more established, I am getting better at not going ahead with a plan to remove a big tree on the hottest day of the year. We do get into the mid 90's each year, if only for a...

    Fighting The Heat!!!

Its amazing to me how quickly climate can change with topography. One of my favorite things about road trips is to see that change happen at 60-70 mph...like driving into Bend, OR. You come out of the trees on Mount Hood into desert at the tree line so fast. While hiking in Utah, we changed...
