Gypo, why one with a small Jack seat cut out, leaving good wedging wood at the back of the tree, which you used, and the other with a full gap, which doesn't lend itself to wedging, as back up to the jack, and to prevent wind gusts damaging the jack? Maybe just wind conditions???
