I use a Kong Paddle biner (about the size/ shape of a Caritool) and use electrical tape to keep the gate open when I want it open (almost always), but can go back if I want. Gives versatility to the biner.

Who taught them to do all that impressive stuff? ;)

I'm guessing that's a swapped preposition, Standing IN versus Standing AT that back of the truck, but being trippy, who knows.

hahaha! I only saw the one hung on the piece going into the chipper. Solid showing, as usual!

https://www.theatomsplitter.com/ One brand. The auger is the more expensive part. I'd looked into them in the past for some large logs that were too short for saw logs at the mill, but didn't get the job.

If the biner holds and slides, its good. Optimal, maybe not. A 95% max sharp chain cuts like a hot knife through butter. I've used a bunch of different ones. No real difference to the average Joe. If I had to select one and source it, as a product, I'd look for the best package, not necessarily...

Its the only dealer near me, and I avoid it. My grinder is the only Vermeer that I own. Its effectively sold to a guy a mile from me, once my lazy mechanic is back from fishing with his grandkids and spending time with his sons, taking care of his elderly mother, not working on his hunting...

Crane-question, standing up single-sling picks on barberchair-prone species... Any issues? A crane job I did about 5 years ago, I had a forest maple start to split me. Wasn't being stood up really, but split all the same. Before cutting, I wrapped it with about 4- 6 turns of 1/2" rope that I...

A joke, Mick. Missing an emoji, for lack of a good one. Anymore, there is no forced military service. People only volunteer to end up facing IEDs, etc. It's tough getting to work with no kids to ready for the day, and the long line at the coffee place, McDonalds drive-thru. A $20 bill/...

How many of them get fired for acting like that? Some type of consequence? If they are all guys, tell them to Man the frig Up and quit being man-boys. Tell them successful people show up early, and occupy themselves until starting time. Tell them to be glad they're not crawling in VC...

Wait, you can't find a guy worth a shit. No way. Wait, still not sure I got that right. Guys...not worth a shit??? How big's that show up there? I'd like to come wreck some trees with you. Show 'em what some salt and pepper (little by little) can do (we're no gray-beards).

Oh crap, not just 50, a vague reference to 50-something. Are Adam and Damien from the area? Where did you find them? 5.5 minutes of pounding is a lot of work on an old guy. By the time I'm stacking, I'll usually remove some heart wood, especially on a green tree...less wood to bend...

I've seen guys fumble around speedlines, like anything else. I can't imagine how shooting 5 limb to the chipper in the time to lower, land in a tight area below the rigging point, release and drag is slower. Just can't. IF you have a bad climber and a bad groundie, you can overcomplicate and...

I rarely do crane work. Sometimes limbs criss cross. A spider leg would seem to allow you to pull through these conflicting limbs without as much movement. When I dismantle maples, this rigging or lifting conflict is common in older, previously-damaged trees.

I'm interested to see how the vermeer grapple does feeding brush and logs into the chipper. I watched a Vermeer video, which might have operator-clumsiness, but it looks like a bit of a PITA.
