the three choices of holes allows adjustment of grip strength. bottom hole = lowest grip. top = tightest. quad action pins sounds intriguing. the improvement i alluded to earlier involves a semi captured slic pin, only double locking.

that pin has a shear strength of 4,500lbs. it is only a temporary solution, i dont like that it is the only thing holding the attachment point if solely because i hate loose parts getting lost. i have a much better design but i didnt have it put together at the time i sent that out. i included...

Gordon, could you add a small screw or post to the top arm as a stopper to prevent the upper and lower arms from contacting?

Gordon, what size ropes are you using? i modeled and tested the hybrid around the poison ivy family of ropes (11.7mm?).

Gordon has the hybrid oar at the moment. he will be sending it on to Paul when he is done with it, and Paul can send it on down the line to any elders who wish to try it out. A few details on it: the release pin on the lower arm is not a locking pin, i have a locking design but it didnt make it...

im not sure addiction is a strong enough word for it! i keep thinking that i have a prototype ready to load test, and then i go and redesign the whole damn thing. i think that as soon as i make a couple of copies of this one, and send one to Gordon, i will take you up on your offer.
