Checked the parkade garage doors, they have a handle in the chain that looks like it would be for manual raising and lowering, might be a tad heavy though.
our parkade garage doors are the only way to get a vehicle out, there are people doors out but in an outage I guess ramming your way out is about the only way.I havent noticed a disconnect gizmo on them.
I think the low wattage genny's are suspect on continuous, no brown out power for tight electric gear like computers and such, the higher the power rating the less likely to bugger up the tech gear.
a hurricane party... cool, havent heard tale of such a beast here. are you eating up big in expectation of the storm? one would think (if one was me) that eatingt all the stores would be counter-productive to long term disaster survival.
once my little deep freeze dies it aint gonna last a few days, thats for sure. throw a sleeping bag over it and start cooking the chicken! or lose a couple hundred bucks worth (between the fridge, freezer and the little deep freezer) of meat and the like.
the only serious major disaster we would face around here is earthquake. Hurricanes like what you get dont happen up here. My fear is earthquake and the lack of access to my provisions due to structure failure.
I would be limited to old school here. my BBQ for cooking, a windup flashlight, a windup radio, a few battery operated flashlights and a hand pump water filter for a real emerg. enough canned food and beverages to last at least a week or more.
