Which means you should never pick off the nose of your truck unless there's enough weight on the bed to counter balance the pick's weight, of course. Work safe n conservative bro. Jomo

Distance from the crane's center pin makes it a hydraulic outrigger. I like rigging towards the center pin unles there's an obstacle between us. Jomo

Spoiled me fuggin rotten Big Twig! Crane work has many hidden dangers IME. You need to know what each pick's gonna do beforehand. I'm a huge fan of single point pick's like Butch, surprisingly, but time's money rentin 120 ton cranes. Though 90% of my crane work's been done with a little...

Did you know the bell n ball cat chokers are directional in the same sense as a clove hitch Aug? Rig em wrong and give them slack? They can come undone...... Jomo

There's a reason these chokers are best sellers in the logging world, but they are illegal for overhead crane work, making Roger B and I, certified outlaws, prolly along with Butch! Most of my picks were taken using these bell n ball chokers, that in my opinion are only illegal because dufus's...

Somethin funny about the discrepancy Aug. My CO says you want the 180 lb craneball Aug, and he's got three more feet of stick than you runnin a 2395, with a 9/16ths cable. I guess he don't pick over 7 tons with a one part line. Says even his 40 ton two part block only weighs 240 lbs...

Actually the ball n hook suited for a 25 ton crane weighs in at 540 lbs, and costs 7K. Though I know for a fact our inhouse crane had a 150 lb ball on it. https://www.westechrigging.com/crosby-ub500s-1036647.html Strange. Jomo

The single purpose of the craneball's keeping the cable taut enough to spool correctly without overlap. Aug's new crane's nowhere near big enough, nor has enough stick to warrant a 300 lb ball. It'd be overkill on such a small crane, and a pita for the climber to muscle around. Jomo

That's a sweet truck crane, almost identical to Atlas' inhouse crane that I worked with for many years. Don't abuse em and they'll pay for themselves many times over! The owners of Atlas are both millionaires! Aug deserves a badass crane. Jomo

It's very violent n busts branches loose, but beats the hell outta wastin valuable time puttin the jib on n off. Not a trick to try n pull off over fragile targets. Jomo

It's so simple it's counter intuitive. You go up to the crane's maximum comfortable reach, and butt tie the tree to itself with nylon slings n shackles, while you're tied to the crane. When you make the release cut, the CO must boom yu up n outta dynamic thrashing range till things cool down...
