Yeah, it did get the job done. But, I wasn't all that happy with it either. That's why the note about "refinements are planned" in the vid description. I've got a better system now ... doesn't use any hardware at all. Next time I have a speedline job, I'll post a vid of that.

Still using them as needed - working good. I did show one in a vid a few weeks ago: <iframe width="480" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/UDmy_x_YlPk?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Yeah, I know ... made me smile, no worries. ;) You're right about them arguing. I tell ya, Murph can REALLY get 'em stirred up, over there.

Yup! Keep two on the saddle every climb ... don't even know their there. I've had family visiting and mechanical trouble with the skid steer so I've only used them a few times. They are better. I've got some extra ... trying to figure some other uses for the stuff ... maybe my climb system...

Sorry, I posted "about 5' long" in the earlier post. Both the F9 and the TFL are very rope hungry. I should also add: I made the loop big enough so it easily fit around a winter gloved hand - maybe 12-14". I did measure the 7' but the other measurements are just estimates. :)

Yeah, Nick ... I used them today when deadwooding a black oak - not speed lining, just loop & chuck. They worked great ... no snagging like with the tube-runners. I used a triple-overhand (aka triple-fisherman) and a figure-nine-loop - tide-dressed-set with about 300lbs - taped the tails -...

+1 on the keyed-gates ... bought 7 more on sale today in anticipation of receiving my "Maxim" chord tomorrow :) but, it should be noted, speed lining is my favorite :D

Yeah, I've seen the 'String' notice. True, it does not apply in this case. Actually, I think the 'blue bandit' borders on silly except to stabilize a knot, as I've done. The bull hitch is simply a cow hitch with an extra turn. The thing about a Black Diamond bent gate is the key slot in...

Good thread Nick. I like the 5mm you use. I'll have to try it. I've been using 1" tubular webbing for rigging (orange 5') and rated sewn webbing for life support (yellow 4'). The rigging loops are made with a beer knot, fastened to a bent gate with a bull hitch and a 'blue bandit'. The...
