Burnham, I found the other 064 crankcase complete with good crank I have, it was a broken saw run over by my partner's skidder. The serial number # is 117584561.
Can't remember how the Stihl #'s work but I believe my #116468370 race saw is the older one.
I bought theses saws new, about a...
Almost didn't find the 064 in the storage shed, the kids were playing with every flashlight I own............... but the smart phone had enough light.:D
Serial #116468370. I'll dig out the 064 spare crankcases later, my wife and I are leaving at 6 am to go house hunting will be back thurs night.
Burnham I'll go look at it and get it's serial number, I got a few other newer 064 crankcases in storage maybe I can get their #s too. I know by 1987 they gained close to a lb by then.
This is my very first 064 I bought in early 1986 when they where first introduced . The saw was a real champ, 85cc and these first 064's at 14.1 lbs are lighter then the 046/460's.
It didn't take long for Stihl to fatten them up and eventually get them up to around 16 lbs.
Look close and...
I based the 1200 hrs on 4 hrs a day , 8 months a year for 2 years. Arborist work is much different from logging 7-8 hrs a day. I run other different size saws during my work day.
Recently I finally got my "new " 3 year old 346XP to run right, found out the canola oil I was running for bar oil...
I got roughly 1200 hours on the 562XP now, never had it serviced or hooked up. Being running it since new from straight out of the box, no problems and still running strong.
I think the 576 should have been built to be a 87cc saw and leave the 70cc class for a 562 series type unit. Only my...
The 576XP Auto Tune is a awesome solid performer equal to a 80cc class saw. . Husqvarna gave me 3 of them to run in my timbersport competiton way back 6 years ago.
Now I'm running 3 550XP's. ha
Magnus to quote about what you said earlier about the 560/562 series saws, I've been running my 562 hard for over 2 years now and no trouble whatsoever besides maybe a odd hiccup in high heat temps.
Husqvarna got this design right with the laid back cylinder , narrow profile and long leverage...
I was hoping this new 572XP or whatever their going to call it, will be the same design as the 550/560/562. With the tilted rearward cylinder design etc.
I did hear it won't have the outboard clutch though, which is a shame for balance, ergonomics and crankshaft strength.
Husqvarna only has the 372XP X Torq and 576 XP to match the MS461. You got a better saw with more displacement at 77cc ,6 bhp and 14.8 lbs.
Verus 576XP AT with 73cc, 5.6 bhp and 15 lbs.
Nice 461 Rock! Money well spent. Only model I have to match it in that class is a old style 372XP and a near brand new 272XP.
I hope to replace my 395XP some day and if Husqvarna doesn't introduce a new big block saw to replace it soon , I'm going to the Stihl MS661 M-Tronic when it becomes...
