well it won't have a redlight but other than that i don't know much about it.
any advice for sorting out if it's worth the loot or not?

serial#s to avoid?

seller says it idles high.
what could that indicate other than being out of tune?

please advise treehouse

High running could also be a lean out condition. Air leak issue if you can't just tune after a carb rebuild. Could be as simple as a leaky carb boot.

says it starts on the 6th pull.
i don't know if that's after warm up or not.

066's are more desirable than 660's IMHO... No serial #'s to really avoid.
As far as high idle, either the low jet is set too lean, or the idle adjustment screw needs adjusted properly.
The key is that it "takes" a tune, and "Holds" it's tune... An erratic idle could be a myriad of possible issues.. Some serious, and some not... Too many possibilities to list here... If you can't take a screwdriver to it and have it all ironed out in about 2 minutes, I'd shy away at that price.. It's the top dollar range on that model in good working and cosmetic condition.

See if he'll take 400.00 since you might have to replace the carb that will cost you $95.00. Anyway... $500.00 for a 066 is about pretty typical for a good runner in my neck of the woods.

ok, it was worth the drive just to hold the bugger.
what a demon saw they are!

i passed
on the way out i called a tech who i've dealt with in the past and stopped by a dealer and they both seemed concerned that an old 066 would probably be a loggers saw and probably be beat to sh.+

i couldn't get the muffler off tho i tried.
the bottom was pretty bare and getting pitted.
it was too beat up under the cover.

guy was willing to go down but i didn't know what else was up with it.

his compression tester came up with 130 which could be better.
just too beat.

what a shame.
thanks for the advice treehouse.
treehouse rules.

well my birthday is coming up and i'm the only one who knows what i want.

an 066 would have been the bees nuts but....
too many unknowns and the knowns were off putting to say the least.

sooo,
it's off to trade in the 362 for a 461.

hot sh.+!

Nice 461 Rock! Money well spent. Only model I have to match it in that class is a old style 372XP and a near brand new 272XP.

I hope to replace my 395XP some day and if Husqvarna doesn't introduce a new big block saw to replace it soon , I'm going to the Stihl MS661 M-Tronic when it becomes available.

Husqvarna only has the 372XP X Torq and 576 XP to match the MS461. You got a better saw with more displacement at 77cc ,6 bhp and 14.8 lbs.
Verus 576XP AT with 73cc, 5.6 bhp and 15 lbs.

I'm holding out for the 572 ex pee...
Could be a while...

It is already here, it is just not renamed it still is called 372xp and is also X-torq.
The 576 is a couple cc bigger and should be the replacement, but...
372 with X-torq has issues just as the rest of the X-Torq's...

I'm familiar with the 576xp AT, But you're saying the the 572xp with autotune is already out in Sweden but is called a 372xpXT???
We have the 372xp X-Torq's here already, but they're not an Autotune.
I don't really care for them..

I doubt it will be out with autotune. 572 is a dream saw, i never dreamed it would have AT.

Side note.
372 has been tested with autotune carb. I doubt it got to be a test series even.

Actually, I know a dealer here in the states that was sent one to run and test... Autotune 572xp...
Do you think they just canned the project?
I hope not. Because the XT saws are sure not inspiring...
