Yep, that's what prevents it falling off completely, it hangs from my neck.

What I would like to know is does it sit right on the tippy top of your head like every Petzl helmet I have owned, (mine actually falls off my head when I look up) or does it wear low for a guy with a big funny shaped head?:)
