It used to be used as a punishment, which I think is not a good idea. Any time I got caught making paper airplanes out of the prayer books or putting salt in the Sister's tea, it was 20 rosaries! Man, them Sisters were deadly with a yardstick and an ear twist too. Didn't do me any harm...

Seems like I did it one time, when I was very young. Pretty sure we all had to do it before we took our First Communion. I had something on my mind that was bothering me quite a bit. Told the priest what it was and felt much better about it afterwards. He gave me some pretty good advice...

Us Catholics believe that too. Or it seems like that is the case. Have not taken Catholic communion for quite a while.

I think there is a social aspect to it. Getting together with like minded people. Lots of good work gets done, people banding together for a common purpose. Must be reassuring too, knowing that you are not alone.

They tell us here it is because since the bars have to be closed at 2 am, they run 15 mins fast to make sure everyone has time to finish their last drink when last call is announced. So they tell everyone to get out at 2 bar time, when it is really 1:45. Gives us drunks time to really be out...

Hmm.....must be a farmer thing. Every bar I go to has a HUGE clock in it. 15 minutes fast. Must be so the farmers can hurry to the post office in time to get their government checks before it closes!
