Sure you could. Just as I 'could' drag two complete climbing systems around the tree with me all the time. We just pick and choose what we use and how we do things. And that is how it should be.
Regarding carrying extra stuff on your climbing harness for those JIC situations, I'm not a fan. In my opinion it leads to a slack job site analysis.
Take the time needed to assess what is needed and climb with that. It doesn't matter how big and strong you are, you will be a better climber...

Climbers are way to complacent about waving a handsaw around in a tree. At least with a chainsaw, you have two hands on it most times.
I have found that it is faster and overall less effort to use a chainsaw for all my cutting, even the small stuff. If it was easier to use a handsaw, I would use that.
Well, I do have a chainsaw. If you are not going to be using a handsaw why carry one?
