I remember that drip system, Al. Not much to it at all. Supplement your wood and get some heat out of your waste oil. I always thought I should do it in my shop, but I haven't yet.
Years ago (1977) my ex and I and our 2 year old son traveled down to Houston with another couple and there 2 kids. The other couple was pretty much out of funds. He bought a quart of reclaimed motor for his Econoline. It looked like brand new. Never seen it since on a shelf.

I use diesel because I have a pump with a hose on it I can drain a little out of the hose easily. Diesel used to have a bit of lubricity to it, don't know if that is true anymore.
I hate the smell of diesel, but I don't have a problem with using the cut bar oil. It doesn't take much.
Someday the EPA or DEC here will regulate bar oil. It probably pollutes more than the exhaust, which they are already on. Catalytic converters on a chain saw!
