Many years ago I used to get swerved at it seemed just to give me a scare. Has not happened in a long time. Oncoming traffic actually goes off to the edge of their lane to give me extra room lots of times. I guess they are letting me know they see me. Happens a lot.
I hate when they don't...
I had a momma racoon and young ones start to cross the road in front of me the other day. I was going pretty slow and switched over to the other lane while slowing down.
Mom told the all 'GET DOWN", and she did the same. All of them at one time. It was hilarious and worked that time.
One...
Does not pay to be a doombass. Especially on two wheels. Don't count on getting 9 lives. You might not be one of the lucky ones. You would think people would see the danger. I guess I was bulletproof once. Extra cautious now.
I had a 1973 MXB Yamaha moto in '77. Rode the thing down at Ft. Hood on the road with KZ 900 Kaws. Thing was ported to be like a rocket ship. Lucky it didn't kill me. One of those 900s did kill the operator and the passenger lived. Fastest production bike on the road at the time. Pretty...
450 miles sounds incredibly tough. Bad ass you are Deva. Best of luck to ya. My son was riding hare scrambles here in NY around the Finger Lakes. I think they were about 80 miles.
I did 80 on a bicycle. My ass was sore for days. Gotta work up to that distance, not just jump in. I was...
I had a 250 MXB Yammy that was right before the YZ's. Thing had been ported to be a scrambles monster. No good on low end but look out when it hit the power band. Little bit radical, but scary fun.
Early on in the metal head thing my bud was at LAX. This guy had metal sticking out all over and my bud was looking him over. What the F are you looking at, the metal head said. What the F do you think I am looking at was his reply. Don't you do that kind of thing to get looked at?
My buddy has a messed up back and neck. He couldn't handle his Harley Bagger anymore. Got a Gold Wing Trike and loves it. He says once he got used to it he prefers the handling over a two wheeler. I have yet to ride it so I have no opinion.
Life is fraught with danger. I know I feel vulnerable on a bike, but it sure can be fun. Riding in good conditions, locations, and being cautious can certainly help. Has M ridden much or at all?
Yes. Losing one is awful.
My bad one - A whole group of friends had been out carousing on their bikes, pretty normal stuff when we were in our younger days. They were heading home on a nice twisty road probably clipping along pretty good. One bike plowed into and two more glanced off a black...
Deer are a real problem at night. Guy I know hit one this summer and killed it. Totaled the bike and didn't do him any good at all either. Dogs are about the only other concern. Cows sometimes too.
I am a bit paranoid riding after discovering I'm not bulletproof like I was when I was young. Lots of bikers hurt/dying when a car makes a left in front of them.
Out in the country putting is enjoyable.
