    I've got everything in the ground .Green beans,yellow squash and cucumbers from seed .Tomatoes,green peppers and banana peppers from starts .Two raised beds about 3 by 24 feet ,it's enough .

    It's coming on strong .So many cucumbers ,green beans, squash I'm giving it away .The other night I picked a tomato that was larger than a softball .Georgia and myself couldn't eat it all . Those tomatoes are a hybrid type of beefsteak and they can get so huge they tear the vines .

    I avoid kale,swiss chard and the like .In other news the tomatoes are about 7 feet tall and full of green with lots of blossums .Little squash on the plants,about two weeks on that .Another picking of green beans about weeks end .

    Last year was so dry it didn't do good .This year I got the jump on it and laid out the soaker hoses .Figures,this year we've had ample rain .I gave every thing a shot of Miracle Grow last afternoon .I'll give it another in about a week .

    In a way old"Phil" kind of is a pet .He was like my adopted coon.just a little chit when he first showed up but like "Rocky" he grew .Phil has enough body weight the fence would not be fatal but it would knock him on his butt .

    I've got this big fat ground hog that lives under my shed and likes to help himself to my garden .I've also got an electric fence around my raised bed which I forgot to plug in and damned if he didn't eat a half a row of green beans . Well I got one culprit today,a mouse ,grave yard dead .

    I planted the tomatoes about 4 days ago and I swear they've grown 6 inches since then .It's finally gotten warm here in the giant corn field of the midwest .Fact today is the first I've used the AC.

    There's methods like wrapping green tomatoes in newspaper or hanging the vines with green tomatoes upside down where it won't freeze .You can still have some about Christmas time .

    They will ripen if picked green but they certainly don't have the flavor of vine ripened .
