thanks for your thoughts on this does this photos make more sense? I'm well versed on the purpose of hinge wood. this is my first hard leaner. i'd like to think i know exactly what to do but it only makes sense to review with the pros.

    leaning tower of oak

So I got this other dead oak thats aboot 30" across the stump. side lean, back lean and 67' tall. got a Masdam puller to keep the tree off my bar when putting in the back cut. my question is one of geometry which is better? notch and back cut matching the lean of the tree or should I put a level...

    My rig less spurs

Is "thumb" in your book? that prusik is as tight as one of those Chinese finger locker things! i assume you just put some slack in the wraps and re set it. i put a micro on it and it laughed at me when i tried to tend that. Thank you

    My rig less spurs

I swear that saddle was used by the mob back in the day to make folks disappear under the water in lieu of blocks... Its really my only regret purchase. Its safe and affordable is all i can recommend with that saddle. The saw hook is miserable in the tree and there is no way to add hooks for...

    MICHOACAN hitch

I'm sticking with this hitch. I've been up 6-8 times with it and it's performed well for me. Now I just need a bucket truck! This Oak is miserably tight up in the canopy and I don't trust the tie in points available. All of the limbs I've removed, regardless of diameter have had about 1/4"...

    MICHOACAN hitch

Im not an Arborist, but i did stay at a holiday inn express once. that said, base of the tree seems sound. no exposed roots and no fungi growing. When i said exploding, the main limb 4 to 6" in diameter did not break apart. Just the smaller 3/4" and less were obliterated. i do have some fungi...

    Foot ascender

I put a file to my spurs today. i colored the flat with magic marker aboot 1/2' from the tip. i only filed the flat out to the tip, left the sides alone. I was able to walk up my oak tree today. not many vijas on the subject Guess i should have read Raj's post

    MICHOACAN hitch

Well today I was as high(climbing) as ive ever been. then it happened, the wind picked up and the tree began to sway. Id be lying if i said no big deal because it was. it took me about 5 min to adjust and trust the tree was not gonna topple over:) TheOak in the pic is my training ground. Its got...

you asked for it https://youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ perfectly explains how i feel using this hitch.

    MICHOACAN hitch

as a rookie climber that struggles with setting these friction hitches, i found this one to be the most intuitive for me to tie and set. as an added bonus, it keeps my pulley less than 2" from the hitch. I've used the blake's, 4 and 6 wrap prusik(flipline adjuster), VT(miserable fail), and the...

    MICHOACAN hitch

Has to be the most secure hitch iv'e experimented with. 30" eye to eye, 5 wraps. nice and tight on the pulley(hitch climber unavailable for this trial). anyone else like it?

Thanks Marc Probably would be easier to remove still tied in. I'll give that a go too.
