Burnham, I borrowed your saying "Confidence is the feeling you sometimes have before you fully understand the situation."

What oil and mixture are you using and why?

Outboard 2 cycle oil has a lower ash temperature, than 2 cycle oil made for air cooled engines. That means that it turns to ash, at a lower temp, than the ones for AIR COOLING. I read some papers on the differences between the oils. Yrs ago. That's the difference.

I am not sure how you associate the fact I live in Arkansas, with the idea the "Pinky and the Brain" is more than just a movie. But, maybe some rednecks, have a 6th sense, that sompin's wrong, with the idea of destroying America, for the good of the world. (Whatever that means!) I will admit, I...

I like that filter idea!!! 4"x8' PVC with Toilet Paper filter! That's how to get the used oil clean! N

    Bar oil

Well, that explains the jammed up oiler tube, on the old Husky 335 XPT. Some sort of vegetable oil, all dried up, and clogged it. Hmmmm maybe a bit of real oil through it, before putting it away for a while, could have prevented it. (At least that's my best guess, at what happened, as I just got...

    The MS150 Has Arrived

I may be dreaming, but I wish saws were all QUIETER. I have much hearing loss, due to my childhood attempts to do demolition with Chinese firecrackers!!! I had no idea that a percentage of the loss, from loud noises, is PERMANENT.

    Mandatory Chainsaw License

Really, some well done SAFETY videos, and such, as mandatory to be INCLUDED with every saw, would be good. Not everybody would watch them, but some WIVES would watch them, and then kill their husbands, for not watching them! (he he he) Maybe some of these clips on this wall of shame could be...

    Bar oil

I use used motor oil. Let it SETTLE down, and pour off the top. Don't use the dregs. It's a bit rough on pumps, but I tighten the chain less, than I did with that regular stuff. (OK string me up!)

There should be a test before somebody can buy a chainsaw! (Just kidding, but that guy could use some actual instruction, before he gets his Darwin Award!)

    Wall of Shame: Wannabe Experts

I once heard a story from around Hot Springs AR, about a fellow, who put STYROFOAM on the roof of a house, and then pulled down a tree, on the house, and it went right through the roof. Funny part is it was already leaning towards the house, but he climbed it, and tied a rope on it, and then...

    335 xpt

I really would not mind the bulb.... if they did not have to be REPLACED every 2 yrs or so. My Stihl pole saw has one, and it seems to last about that long. IF they could figure out how to make them last, it would be ok.

Additives, to overcome the ethanol. (Star Tron)

So far, my favorite is STAR TRON. I's told it is some sort of enzyme. Let me be clear, I am NOT affiliated in ANY way with this company. BUT, It does make my saws run better. And, all my small engines, for that matter. I put about an oz in 5 gallons. So far, it is my best solution for ETHANOL...

    335 xpt

Well, I cannot say for sure. But mine needed DIGGING. I mean, serious digging by hand, with a drill bit. It was as gummed up as could be. It was real hard fine sawdust, with some sort of oil, that had sort of locked it up. I'm a pretty relentless. (That's good and bad!) So, it got fixed! I also...

    335 xpt

OK, Al, here is a more detailed explanation of how I could have fixed mine, IF I had known that the elbow was all clogged up. If the oiler rotates still (That is it is not bent) then here is what might work: Remove the clutch. Remove the plastic worm that rotates the oiler. Reach your finger in...

My first post to this forum. IF you had tole me that you hafta remove the PISTON, ROD, and CRANKSHAFT to remove this confounded oiler, I'd have not believed you!!! Thanks to this forum, and the others above who posted pics, I just fixed a Husky 335XPT. What was wrong with mine was a huge wad of...
