Safe techniques for tying into the crane ball

Was doing a huge 55t crane/bucket job taking out 5 trees yesterday, hose blew in upper boom of 75' lift at 11am, freaking elderly climber (moi) had to finish the trees by climbing ( we were shorthanded cuz my climber quit due to inadequate work hours cuz things are slow, can't blame him of...

    Drones

They are big in the news past couple weeks. Unexplained heavy night time drone activity in Jersey area and elsewhere in USA. I didn't pay much attention early on, but the issue seems persistent. Why can't or isn't the fed 'authorities' giving any explanations or solutions? Could it be aliens...

    TCIA felling article

I wanted to place this in an extant thread but couldnt find the right one. Felling article. 2 things didn't make sense to me- reason for a humboldt and hinging/fiber in winter-cut oaks. As discussed ad nauseam here at the House, the biggest reason to use a humboldt is (long story short) to...

White Pines in The Pine Tree State appear threatened

Was in Maine a couple weeks ago (a third of the way up the state, 17 mi NW of Augusta). I always love gazing at the many massive white pines (4'x130') on my camp road by Echo Lake. Last year at this time I observed no issues with the trees. This year, 99% of the white pines in my area have very...

    Tiny houses

I love the idea and I bet folks here have plenty of input and ideas. Anywho here's a vid to get the ball rolling, a community of tiny houses. https://www.nytimes.com/2024/01/08/headway/homelessness-tiny-home-austin.html?unlocked_article_code=1.z00.LP1P.RNdncBf5XHBH&smid=url-share

The dreaded stripped threads, Husky 572

Aite, one of the 4 screws affixing the starter assembly to the saw is stripped. Rather, the hole seems to be stripped, the screw's threads seem to be good. Presumably a case of a loose screw that got worse over time and vibration destroyed the threads. I've never done a heli-coil. Can you guys...

Have I mentioned I eat poison ivy?

Been doing it on and off for probably 3 years. It tastes like kale. I've had no ill effects and rarely get a rash from work. I'm the guy who handles the PI into the chipper if it needs to be fed manually cuz my guys are both very allergic. Anyway here is a big article on it from WSJ, idk if...

    hearing pro

An important topic for me so I buy the strongest pro I can find-peltor H10 which is rated for 27-35NRR depending on what you read. Hygiene kits for it are tough to find. I used to buy them with no problem but manufacturers seem to have figured that they'll make more money by making hygiene kits...
