So do I. It works well when modded but is a plum as standard.
That type of poplar regrowth is pretty snappy. Maybe that was the reason but more than likely he is trying to be an ambassador for recommended cutting techniques in the UK. I bet his boss said if he was filming no spear cuts LOL
Stig and Mick.
Another vote here for the spear cutting.
Problem here is he is using a 150t. They don’t cut quick enough to spear cut in a lot of cases.
I can’t actually answer that, from a felling perspective. I don’t know if I am lucky or unlucky.
Lucky that I have never had to fell one from ground level?
Or
Unlucky that I have had to climb the ones I have removed.
So, I have no idea how it would hold on with a full crown weight. I can...
You might not be saying that if you ever have to climb one.
Everything is spiked and the jabs easily get infected.
I have climbed a few, just spurring up the trunk and there are small whirls of spikes at each branch collar. Almost impossible to not get knuckled when flipping up the tree.
My...
thanks @cory .
I saw on one of his videos he mentioned he had been to Norway to do some work.
I will watch that in a bit.
I am just back from a rather airy weekend at an Arb and Forestry show in the UK. Hilarious catching up with my old mates. Camping and not a lot of sleep.
Working to day...
Wow. Maybe, being able to assess a back leaning tree is a better skill than knowing how to free a pinched bar with ratchet straps.
What do we know though?
In a round about way, that is what i was trying to say. Those without the knowledge can be easily fooled with a few big words and big actions.
Yet, those who know, know.
Why would you want him to help? Serious question.
Yes he has or had a big youtube following but that doesn't mean a lot ... other than he has put a lot of time into filming and editing.
I watched a few of his videos before he parted company with Eastside. Some of it was a bit cringeworthy...
Totally agree. Work to the bottle neck.
By all means, wang half of the tree off when there are 3 on the ground with an avant. 1 or two guys and a narrow exit point And make the extra cut up the tree to save the guys on the ground picking up a saw. Bang it straight through the chipper.
If...
He is good, but sometimes I watch and it is as though he maxes out the rigging / tree /scenario a bit too much. I have removed many trees in tight cityscapes. You don’t need to max it out every time. Just because the rigging system can handle a certain amount doesn’t mean you have to use it...
