Dedicated stump grinder vs skid steer with grinder attachment? Pros and Cons?

They were considerably cheaper 3.5 years ago, and I got a decent deal then. 😂. I think I have ~140 hours on it now.

Dedicated stump grinder vs skid steer with grinder attachment? Pros and Cons?

Here's my grinder knocking out a 4.5' stump as measured 4' above grade. Solid stump, took 90 minutes... mountain of chips. Here's an attachment on my smaller mini ex (47hp, 13klb) And here's another video of my grinder at 8x, the first stump took under 10 minutes. This was with the...

Dedicated stump grinder vs skid steer with grinder attachment? Pros and Cons?

The attachments can certainly perform... a stump grinder attachment on an excavator running a power pack would smoke most grinders, but that's outside the scope of most residential tree services. My 72hp excavator with a grinder attachment couldn't hope to keep up with my 3200lb stump grinder...

Dedicated stump grinder vs skid steer with grinder attachment? Pros and Cons?

A dedicated grinder will be faster/better. An attachment will be less investment/more versatile. I have 2 tracked skids, 1 stump grinder, no grinder attachments.

    Stahl's logging supplies

I haven’t used them extensively yet, but for the price difference so far they’re an easy winner.

    Stahl's logging supplies

I was glad they were a $17 loop not a $32 loop of Stihl chain. The job was $1300 and took 75 minutes, I didn't price the chains in, but there was enough margin in the job to handle it. 😂

X Cut will, rather begrudgingly, cut through steel pile and rebar. Luckily only moderately damaged another chain cutting the other two.

The Rolls Royce of back pack sprayers

Pretty consistently crappy reviews with leaks being a common issue.

The Rolls Royce of back pack sprayers

A 40 hour battery life is amazing! I sprayed 70-80 gallons of herbicide this morning before work, sprayed 100 gallons Monday after work. I wish Milwaukee made a decent 1-2 gallon sprayer to use the existing batteries I have… as it stands I use a manual pump sprayer and my assistant 😂.

    Electric Spider lifts?

Can you give an example of an electric spider you're looking at? My first thought is you're looking for a budget lift that will have crap for parts availability/affordability and will turn into a money pit almost instantly.

    Stahl's logging supplies

I'm assuming a CBN wheel is the way to go, perhaps a Baltic? I remember using pink stone wheels, I don't like the dust or the constant dressing/adjusting/fidgeting. Would I not want the Oregon 620-120 for the auto hydraulic clamp, one less thing to mess with/make the process easier?

    Stahl's logging supplies

I'll hand sharpen on the saw on the job, or replace the chain with a new chain. At some point I'll probably figure out getting a grinder, then the pile of chain will continue being an asset.

    Stahl's logging supplies

Ordered 30 20" loops and a couple 28" and 36" loops for $43 less than 20 20" loops from the Stihl dealer.

    Stahl's logging supplies

I hand sharpen on occasion 😂. If we’re busy and have a strong supply of new chain, the occasion to sharpen wanes. I figure I’ll order a case of 20” loops and see how it goes. A case of 28”/36” would last me an exceedingly long time.

    Stahl's logging supplies

I’ve pretty well only used Stihl chain on hand saws. In general I doubt I’d get excited to spin my own loops without substantial savings that likely can’t exist when a loop is only $18. I should perhaps get a chain grinder to go through my buckets of used chain… but I’d rather find a decent...

    Stahl's logging supplies

Has anyone compared it directly with Stihl? I got a price last week for 20 loops of 20” loop from my Stihl dealer. XCut from Stahl’s is little more than half the price. 36” loops are a little less than half priced. Interesting. How do you think they compare, @SkwerI?

Niftylift SD50 vs SD64? Vs crawler?

I'm a dealer for Nifty Lift, I've sold a SD64 to Oahu and another to Kauai. I'm also a user of the SD64. @treesandsurf is the owner on Oahu. The width would be a problem if you were working in tight areas... I've been using SD64s for 9 years (bought my first from another dealer). I might...
