    How'd it go today?

For years I've been aware of a concept in human nature, but have never been able to quite put it in words. Well, today, I've figured out how to describe it: there are an alarming number of people out there, that if they were just a little bit smarter, might be able to comprehend just how stupid...

A for effort, but reinstalling this cobbled radiator hose cost twice as much this morning as a new one cost. It then had to be removed again because the replacement alternator, installed long before my time, was slightly different, requiring a longer belt than the special order one from Deere.

You have to make sure the injectors/rack are not stuck on the two strokers. They are otherwise dead simple.

There is a tractor shortage on the farm during haying season. I found a couple of batteries and got this old timer out of the bushes. Like it was just shut off yesterday. Video wouldn't load, so I'm linking to Instagram.

I just got home to find my microwave randomly starting and stopping. It wasn't 9n fire or glowing, so I unplugged it. This morning I found a tube of shoe goo I didn't know I had. I just took my boots off. Both heels need to be glued. The ghosts are busy today!

Worked on the tractor again. Temperature sender or caught fire. There is no electricity going through it. Unhooked the 12v going into the cluster, no smoke. Starts with the button now. Does not charge. One day/disaster at a time with this poor old thing. Water pump on a DT466. They make...

Replacing some switches on an old farm tractor. The guy who owned this tractor, and much more equipment, was absolutely brutal. If tractors went to hell, this is the guy where they went. Large chunks of wire loom were just snipped off with dykes. I'm trying to get the new kew switch working so...

Just got home from TimberFest. I'm toast. Amazing presentations. The guy who built the Globe theater did an hour and a half. Phillipe Petit came to talk about his timber framing experience. Phillipe is a high wire guy. He walked between the wtc towers, I think it was in the'70's. Very...

A buddy of mine has moved away from actual timber framing and is now doing conservation assessments and reports. He has, until recently, been working in Uzbekistan, Bahrain, Saudi and a few places I can't spell. A nice showing of Guild founders who were there in 1985. A bunch of people I...

Something has moved into my basement. The insulation is off one of the windows and the panes of glass are dislodged. There are a bunch of things knocked off shelves. I hope it moves out on its own.

I don't think that forktruck is getting stuck in the yard. Although you probably don't have mud to get stuck in.
