    Lantern collections?

That’s for the older propane tanks? Does it work with the newer ones with the larger/coarse threads?

    Lantern collections?

When you say propane is cheaper…you mean when you refill the small bottles from a larger tank…not purchased outright? It seems to me the Coleman fuel would win if compared to purchasing the little green bottles. I have one of those little refill valves, but have never used it. I usually convert...

    Lantern collections?

Some friends of ours were on a trip when they were rear-ended. Totaled the car and a bit of their camping gear, bit they are okay, aside rom some bruising. Among the casualties was his Coleman 425F camp stove. I got to looking around on the web for him a replacement. (He'd rather buy old and...

    Coleman fuel/white gas

Have you ever had to replace any parts on yours? Mine is about 7-8 years old but has only been used a handful of times. I wondered if I need to at least inspect/lube the pump cup.

    Coleman fuel/white gas

I wish I’d gotten pics of the setup getting out gear in. We first hiked to this waterfall several years ago with some friends. When I first saw it, I thought I’d like to bring the kids to camp there. It’s about a 40’ drop from the cliff on the entrance side, with a switchback climb down a cut in...

    Coleman fuel/white gas

$14.98. O saw a couple of places that showed (online) to have it in stock. Prices ranged from $15-$24. So you know if there’s a shelf life in the stuff? Mine’s at least seven years old and smells the same as it did when new, and I can’t any difference in using it. This is only my fourth time...

    Coleman fuel/white gas

We met our middle daughter at Walmart to pick up her two youngest kids. While there, o checked sporting goods. They had four gallons of Coleman fuel so I grabbed one. Next question for you Whisperlite owners…what size bottles do you use and how many do you take when you go camping. I only have...

    Coleman fuel/white gas

I’m hesitant to use kerosene as they say it burns quite dirty. I have some white gas that is old, but still good. For some reason it keeps very well. Purer/less additives, perhaps?

    Coleman fuel/white gas

We’re off in the morning for a (short) camping trip with the grandkids. Taking them to a waterfall where we’ll hike in and hammock camp for the night. Been digging out all my camping gear, as it hasn’t been used in several years. I packed my MSR Whisperlite stove and refilled my fuel bottles. I...

    How'd it go today?

We took the ferry across Mobile Bay from Dauphin Island to Ft. Morgan. While in route, our youngest daughter texted me that she was out on the bay as well on the Sea Lab boat. They were catching and tagging sharks. Our courses passed close enough that we could see her waving at us from her boat.

    How'd it go today?

Our youngest daughter is doing a two-week class at Dauphin Island Sea Lab. They are partnered with the University of North Alabama where she is attending. So we hitched up the camper and came south for a few days to see her and the beach. Brought our middle daughter and her three kids along. Got...

Climbing the tree vs climbing a rope in the tree

Il looked down on a throw line just last week. It was hopelessly wrapped/stuck in a very dead pine stub. I want up just past it, tied in, freed it and dropped it out, then made my notch, nipped the back, and hastened down so we could snatch the top out with the truck.

That law enforcement is needed on site to keep the ferals at bay is preposterous.

    The Official Work Pictures Thread

Here’s a couple of pics from Google street view from a while back, the first to show it’s height, the second to show it was only 8’-10’ from the primary (before being blown over). I’m surprised the power company hadn’t already cut it, as they have a 15’ ROW easement, though they often bend that...

I forgot to mention that I had side guys on it as well, just in case that once I got to the top and cut the last limbs loose, the root ball wasn’t secure enough to prevent lateral movement. If it swung to the right, I’d have been riding toward the power line, and to the left, a 20’-30’ swing to...

    The Official Work Pictures Thread

Fun time today. Got a call two weeks ago about an uprooted pine hung in another one. Fair size pine…over 90’ tall. I set a 5/8” Stable Braid line in it and ran it over the primary and anchored off with a 2:1 to the base of a large oak. Used the Ram to lift it enough that I knew it wasn’t resting...
