I think there are better valves than the APTA original ball valve, which seems worn on mineafter years of occasional/ regular use

    How'd it go today?

Throw lines are very worth learning to use. Highly advisable, imho. Better to have a pole than nothing.

    Wood stove heat

Alcohol and fire are a dangerous combo. Poor judgment and fire are a disaster waiting to happen. I rented a room in my house one winter. She did Not use the wood stove.

    Contract climber rate?

Here, legally, the two business must operate separately, never together. The Sub-contractor climber can't work with the General Contractor's ground worker. Does that rule get broken? All the time!

    Mentoring New Climbers

I try to focus on what I want instead of what I don't want. I try to get new climbers to do this. I don't want to fall. Vs. I want to safely and confidently climb and descend from the tree. Also, focus/ walk them through a process of mentally defining the goal, exploring options...

    Contract climber rate?

I think it's different being a subcontractor than an employeeas to responsibility for damage. This gets messy when a subcontractor is working with tools and employees of the general (main) contractor. Subs can't use/ work with general contractors', tools, employees, nor supervision/...

Brilliant! Laying a tree down gently

I tell people routinely that I like to squeeze the trigger as much as possible to get the wood on the ground, using as little hand handling or rigging/ extra tools as sensible. Binding means pulling extra gear from the truck, hauling to the tree, install, removal from a log that may not need...
