I've got a low-use 5/8 and moderate/ light use 9/16 stable braid. I wonder how to combine/ piggyback those two as skylines, using 1/2" stable braid as a lowering/ haul- back line.
I recall I have a brand new 9/16" atlas line, too.
Definitely, guyed. It's a...
l’ve got a Skagit GT3 with around 1500’ of skyline and 1200’ of skid line I will make you a great deal on. It’ll fly a full size chipper and then some.
Just need a few big guy back trees and a nice tail tree.
Used the bucket for 1&1/2 mature sycamore prunes today. The other half was climbing. A bit of elevating and a lot of end weight reduction. Also the estimator had me shaping a forty foot tall white pine. No bucket access. I was able to get it somewhat columned but could not do much with the tops...
How steep of a run are you talking about? Guy the support trees. IMO
I would think a simple high line and a haul back would do it. Slack the high line and use that to raise the chipper and the haul back as the descent line and retrieval line. Mini pulling it up hill if you have the run.
You need a number for line tension to suspend the load, which depends on the weight and the angle of the line. After you have that you need the angle at each end point and you can calculate the component vectors from the known resultant vector.
The plot thickens.
Will the unhealed heavy cuts heal over? I assume they were cut too close and too large. I seem to recall reading that the healing tissue can be trimmed back slightly to encourage it to keep growing and completely compartmentalize?
Small thinning cuts (to the origin of the removed branch from the 'parent' branch for a few feet of clearance from the house.
Branch collar cut via 3-point pruning cut method.
Hand saw.
Check for oak wilt season.
Lysol spray for sterilizing, if desired.
