Trees Leaning Toward House -- Removal

.... yeah, Sean, great points....I'm slow... and can be lazy..... when rain lets up tomorrow am planning on sanding down the flaking paint on the sides and use up my remaining rattle can of white paint. .... in fact when I'm out today I'll stop by Lowes and pick up more cans enough to finish the...

    Hand Filing - Free-hand

thanks Jonny. I've been using the Oregon .025 "saddle" type raker gauge exclusively, but recently tried the Husqvarna "single tooth" guide, which may have made them lower. I'm thinking I may have filed out the gullets too much on some of them causing too much of a beak. Am thinking about...

Trees Leaning Toward House -- Removal

Here is my thinking for the 150-200 to haul it off (and I'm thinking that would be for the good wood only... not the brush). * The customer is only about 20 minutes from me * 2 or 3 trips max ? * Can sell the firewood * decent exercise for a day * I kind of enjoy a day of that kind of physical...

    Hand Filing - Free-hand

this is sort of a spin-off from a conversation in another thread of mine. Trying to learn to hand-file (round) "free hand". Below are photos of my "chips" from my latest attempt at hand-filing my ms461 w/25" bar It isn't 100% "sawdust" ... and there are some *bigger* chips, but not the way it...

Trees Leaning Toward House -- Removal

Altissimus -- Pulling definitely Thanks Sean. that reminds me... with weight of tree I can use physics/trig/algebra to calculate required pull pretty much exactly. Thanks Daniel. Nice looking work on those 2 videos. I can definitely use the retainer line and possibly angled hinge possibly. I...

Trees Leaning Toward House -- Removal

 I had been thinking about a live instagram collaboration with a gopro on my helmet and volunteers from the Treehouse could guide me real-time... (just kidding of course)... back to reading through responses but didn't want to forget acknowledging this one :)

Trees Leaning Toward House -- Removal

I looked at a potential removal job today with a few trees leaning toward the house. These leaning toward house are around 12" x 40' or so. With a rope set high I think they will be light enough to easily pull over opposite +-45* from lean. Any thoughts would be much appreciated! Photo #1...

    How'd it go today?

i've started buying second hand books too more often. I only know English, but I enjoy (centuries) older books and would almost always rather work through the original version/language/format than rely on somebody's "edited for the modern reader" version.

    And now I wait

Well that explains my futility with rounds then. ...but don't many people successfully carve/turn bowls out of rounds? Is Polyethylenglucol like antifreeze?
