I agree on doubling up on the toprope Sean. I've been thinking a lot about the best way to do that without having to tend either system by hand. Shunt? I've got one of the Petzl chest ascenders that I'd like to try with a weighted line, but not sure about a secondary. I guess I could tend...

Boot's are the Drayer Tango II's from Wesspur. They're kind of like approach shoes, but they've held up really well, and are good on hooks. Had them a couple years now.
I've never done any gym climbing. Little bit of rock, but never any ice. Seems like some of the skills will transfer, but I'm really looking forward to learning a new way to climb on a different kind of spikes. :)
I'm going to teach myself to ice climb this winter. The area I'm in is famous for it, and I've always wanted to give it a shot. Figure I can top rope myself out of just about anything while learning, so why not. 8)
Me too Bermy, I think it feels very secure. It wasn't a big change from the Wrench actually. The Akimbo has a smaller sweet spot in the engagement vs a hitch. Smaller, but it's there. One handing took some getting used to. Haha

I wonder about the aluminum and the steel interacting. One thing I like about the 1st and 2nd gen HH is the steel side plates. It looks nice.

Couple of storm damaged poplars that I looked at a few weeks ago. There was literally no access, nowhere to park, busy city street. I told the guy I'd get them down for him but I wasn't able to effect the cleanup. He passed, and I gave him a couple numbers for the other local big-iron tree...
