At least once the barge broke it's anchorage in a heavier sea, maybe that is why they stopped having it. They wouldn't take you out there on rough days. No rogue waves that I can recall. :O I cook me some fish in my wood stove at the shop sometimes. Shut it down and get the smokey. Yummy...

Years ago there was a fishing barge that they would anchor off the west coast of Southern California, sometimes tow it to different spots where the fish would be hanging out. It was rather large with an asphalt surface, could hold quite a number of people. A launch would take you out to it, and...

The ones I used to catch didn't seem that way, V. Excellent eating, especially when the fillets are cooked in one of those wire net things on the barbie.

Ray, like in some vids, baiting and hooking it, then a shot to the head, is that how it is normally done? Some of the guys waving around a rifle to get a shot at the struggling creature, it looks more dangerous than the gator. Wonder how they were able to hoist up a 1000lb alligator?

MB, you can troll for salmon without a downrigger, but with the weight directly on your line with no downrigger, after the fish strikes, a release clip drops your weight to the bottom, so you lose it. You don't want to fight a fish with all the weight still attached. There are a lot of lead...

Nice fish, Gary, what is the limit up there per day? How are yo going to eat it? Not sure how it applies to King, but Salmon raw is mighty fine, or litely grilled on the outside and still raw inside is a way that sushi places also serve it, a drop of good mayo on it. Did you drop your lead...

When I visited Saskatchewan and did some fishing, the amount of water in streams was very impressive. A boat in good shape is essential in those serious waters.

Ray, I think that you are right about the Yellowtail, being like the one off the west coast. A great eating fish, imo. Lots like a great time, Gary.
