That's a very interesting read, Bob, thanks for mentioning it. I had a friend that served in that same capacity in the marines during the war as well, another kid that liked to shoot from a young age. Sadly, my friend's life ended in Quiang Nam province, but he is well remembered.

A dreary thought, but Rajan's image reminds me of the after effects of the atomic bombs, where peoples outlines or shadows were somehow burned into the surrounding ground.

Hardly ugly, Deva. Rather charming boyish in a Tom Sawyer type of way. Reports on file are good from people that have actually met you too.

I agree, when you look at Fiona, you can only say that James Brown was a little off base when he said that it's a man's world.

Sewing is a cool activity, tailors and seamstresses. Some of my relatives were children in the sweatshops in the garment industry, boys and girls. They could sew very well all their lives. As a kid I would watch my grandmother, and though she spent much of her life still escaping the...

Whacked this Oak a couple years ago, and the lower portion between the two leads is still sitting attached. The type of Oak doesn't dry too well without splitting, so i cut a ring around the bottom with my saw to stop bringing up water, and thought that initially drying it slow on the stump...

I believe that there are something like 6 million women in Tokyo. Eliminating the ones too young and too old, not your types, and those that wouldn't be a choice for other non-specific reasons, i think that there must still be like at least three or four million within the general range of...

I have never been married to someone from my own culture, but I will say that an international marriage, at least for me and I know for some others, has definitely had it's periods of confusion. It's one thing to be at loggerheads with different personality perspectives along with the man vs...

Probably a cultural thing. I think that Japanese women tend to possibly be somewhat less analytical in figuring reasons to be pissed off. Very predictable social order, that sort of thing. I'll hopefully somehow remember your wisdom if there is a next life. :)

Always liked that great and tragic film, "Blue Angel", with Marlene Dietrich, where she basically ruined the life of the respectable professor.....or he basically did it to himself.

It's kind of like bucking a bronco. Things eventually can smooth out if you stay with the action and don't get thrown over the fence. Instead of taking some minutes though, it takes like 25 years. Still, when it does smooth out, you can sing, "Cowboy Romance".
