I like my saws with just a tad of four stroke in the sound. Never have burned anything up so far, and the plugs look good. Some stock saws like the small Zenoah/Redmax clamshells, if you lean out the high speed too much, you can't get a proper setting on the low speed between a good idle and...

The service bulletin pertaining to tuning involved retuning the carb? That sure seems like a simple fix.

I think it was Cory, maybe, that said he much likes his later version. Someone here mentioned that. (Squish, did you see the photo of horse riding in Mongolia that I posted, thought that you would like it.)

With all due respect, "Hog a big hole through the muffler", seems ill advised without more specifics like how big a hog, unless you want a saw that won't idle without the chain turning. At least it is that way on most saws, where some resistance to exhaust flow is required. Somthing different...

Opening up the muffler on my 020 (predecessor to the 200, but basically the same saw), sure turned it into a zippy thing. Seems to have made a good difference. Inside the muffler the exhaust had to make a sharp turn to get to the exit. I don't exactly recall, but I remember grinding it away to...

Yeah, interesting about improving performance by the metering lever being higher to allow more fuel. Perhaps shortening the lever spring and measuring pop off pressure would do similar? Welcome to the house.

The point about overheating, I think is grasping at straws. Maybe if someone unfamiliar with saw use is going to be winding it out on twigs, but skilled users don't overwork a saw like that.

Wow Aclarke, I feel for you. All that equipment in the photo looks new. The plasma cutter seems a giveaway too. Would anyone go to that trouble without knowing what was in there?

    Good test pilot report, Cory.

Definitely get a tach, Fiona. Still, to be honest, I can't understand how you can use a tach to dial in a saw so specifically, as Eddy describes. With a higher quality tach that gives a quickly refreshed reading, the numbers really jump around, and with a slower tach that appears to give a...

I seem to recall having a similar problem with a saw, where a carb disassembly and cleaning solved it.

Probably an age old reason why a lot of good products get discontinued. The people making them aren't the same ones using them.

Weird problem for a newer saw, Cory. Is the fuel line in the tank where it should be? Carb...like dirt in a passage or somehow the metering got buggered up?

Most chainsaw manuals list opening up the shutter to heat the carb area at a much lower temp, generally below freezing. Wonder what makes those saws so special?

I find the rear handle ok from a bucket if you are just dropping stuff, cut and grab is awkward...maybe unsafe.

When working from the ground on downed trees, those rear handled models are great limbing saws, 020, 200, 201 I suppose) if you have to do a lot of it with small to medium sized limbs. All day long and it isn't much fatiguing.

It definitely looks longer than the 200 rh, which doesn't have the filter cover sticking so far back. Where is Jeff to show fifteen boxes of his now?

What exactly is the cause of needing so many pulls on a new saw? Personally, I think ten pulls is a lot, compared to a lot of saws that will start dead cold on five or so. Can't they make it so more gas gets into the cylinder so the darn thing will fire? Different jets or something? The...
