    Time for a bigger saw

I had decided to go bigger, 576xp or ms461, local dealer existence and knowledge drove me to the ms461. Got it with a 25" on it and 32" just in case I get into a sword fight with a tree. :D

Nice pic Fiona. I should have taken a pic like that after the Doug Fir I did last weekend with my echo 450 just to prove that it happened. There were knots and burls ALL OVER it, sure wish I had the 461 a week ago!

    Time for a bigger saw

My garage was starting to look at least a slight bit organized when I emptied out a shelf that was just big enough for my saws, now I have to find a new system as this beast is not even close to fitting in that shelf.

    Time for a bigger saw

We have a winner!! I went out today ready to purchase the 576xp, but the nearest husky dealer wasn't much of a dealer, they can't stock husky's because of a contract with stihl and didn't have any large pro saws at all. The kid who took my info took a good 10 minutes to find the model I told...

    Time for a bigger saw

Good point Willard, the comment on longevity of the 576 had me worried there for a bit. My echos will see many more hours than the 576 I think, and even if I do start using it as my main saw, as you said - I am no logger. Thank you for your input.

    Time for a bigger saw

I'm leaning that way, after hearing the 461 is a bit rough. I found there's a husky dealer about 10 minutes from my house, I'll have to stop by and see one in person, and do the same at the stihl dealer

    Time for a bigger saw

For me, that pushes more for the 461, I have a small smooth saw I can run all day and most of my work is not in big trees so this saw will not be used too heavily. Anyone have any experience on both the ms461 and 576xp to compare smoothness and such?

    Time for a bigger saw

that narrows it down one more notch. Its either the 461 or 576xp. I'll check into them at the local dealers and see what the prices are, after I solve my trailer issue. Thanks again everyone for all of your advice

    Time for a bigger saw

Thank you for the advice, it looks like I can't go wrong. I may have to put it off a bit longer than I thought though, I just checked the title on my trailer which I thought was good for 3000lbs gvwr, its only 1500. I have 1080lb (dry) mower and just added about 500lbs worth of bagger to it...

    Time for a bigger saw

Thank you guys for the explanation of the husk model numbers, they make sense to me now. I'm still debating between the 441, 461, and 576xp. I have a few more weeks to decide unless a job pops up in the meantime that i need a powerhouse for.

576, the 562 is out as I've ruled out the 60cc saws

    Time for a bigger saw

I was cutting firewood today with my buddy who has the 362 so I got to use that and get a feel for the size. It is a definite step up from my current saw, but it showed me that I need to wait a bit and buy the next size up. This takes some of mess out of my comparison by removing the 60cc...

    Time for a bigger saw

Butch, which german saw? Grendel, the 661 and 390xp are more saw than I am looking for, do you notice a big difference between the 441 and 461?

    Time for a bigger saw

I'm now giving some serious thought to holding out for a month or so and getting as ms441 or a 576xp. Maybe get a timberwolf and a wrap handle to cover my bases till the bigger saw comes into the picture, or just borrow my buddy's 362 when needed. I'm not too worried about the extra weight as...
