    I've had much better luck with this method than with easy-outs. A wire welder works even better as you don't get all the smoke and slag that you get with a stick.

    I just went out and looked and the housing on my Vermeer 1250 is welded to the frame also.

    I think tub grinders don't depend on the sharpness of the blades quite like a drum or disk chipper.

    My chipper has 5/8" bolts course thread. I just use a 1/2" impact wrench on the outer ones and an endwrench with another wrench as a cheater on the inner ones.
