Strikermike, 300 is probably OK, I think that saw is around 550 or 600 new. 550 may be a little high for the 460 if it has a lot of run time on it. Most people buy a 460 to run it, not let it sit around. I posted some of this discussion about the difference in design of STIHL saws at the FF...- sawcollector
