I have a 1998 international 4900 25 yard chip truck that was a lot cheaper and is paid for. Hauling wood is going to suck, I am going to have to go back to using our dump truck and dump trailer again. But I wil make do.

Truck is for sale on tree trader if anyone is interested. I have only used it 3 times in the past 2 months and we can't justify keeping it. It sucks but we don't want to pay on something that isn't getting used.

I have never used a spider leg with a stick crane either but with a kboom it's very different. I don't have a ton of height and i dont have a winch so for me it's just as easy to use 1 or 2 spider legs, tie it where i want it and make my cut. I still use tuflex slings especially on wood.

Thanks Boss! It's def not like a big stick crane but we wanted a truck that could do it all and this is definitely it! Its amazing how strong that stuff is! Thanks for the links Nick! I will have to go through and see what will be the best for us.

Haha sorry it took so long! For now I am using just 3/4'' dead eye slings (I think they are husky rope) until I get some amsteel II's made up. They are working great I like them much so much better than the tuflex slings on the brush. You are correct cow hitch's on all the pieces.

Here are some pictures of 2 trees today (I know no headache rack installed yet). The first was a Black Walnut didn't take us long at all and there was zero lawn damage. All pieces were laid right on the feed table of the chipper. Last picture is of a Spruce we picked out of the flower bed...

That is insane! I wonder how much a rig like that would cost?

Yea Mike Poor has some incredible cranes. I think he has a 55 ton crane and a crane well over the 100 ton mark too. His kbooms are absolutely crazy and well out of my budget!

Cool thanks for the info Nick! Max extension is between 65-68 ft. Load capacity depends on the radius as well. Fully extended and fully horizontal it is close to 1000 pounds. If you are fully extended up it is close to 2000 pounds. (Don't quote me on those numbers though I don't have the...

Thanks Nick! The crane is definitely sweet! We only have about 6 hours of run time on it this week. My dad and I both got the flu so we didn't really do much this week. But so far so good! You have good eyes, they are tuflex slings with shackles on the end. Its what I am used to so its what...

it really is sweet, the pictures don't do it any justice as it was our first day working with it and we really were going very small with our pieces until we get comfortable with it.

Here are some pictures from today, all of our picks were VERY conservative. We are just starting to get the hang of the kboom and didn't want to get crazy with weight. The last picture posted we were able to take the tree in 1 piece. [/ATTACH]

To be honest Nick, when we were looking I didn't even consider a Hino, Jack at Timberland convinced us and it has 260 hp, which is 30 more than the comparable international. Jack found the chassis for us, it was purchased from Erie, PA. When we were first looking I wanted a freightliner or...
