I can only think of one pair of pants for sure that got a hole in the (front)pocket, and they were about shot by that time anyway. I used to wear out back pockets on jeans from wallets, but I now neither wear jeans nor put my wallet in my back pocket. My front pockets are always loaded, with one...

Watches are cool. I especially like the 100% mechanical watches. I have a Swiss made pocket watch my father gave me years ago. It's not particularly valuable, but it keeps great time, and I like that it doesn't require batteries. I hardly ever carry it. Since cellphones became a thing, I don't...

Insidious isn't it? Knives, rope, and chainsaws... They all take real effort to keep from accumulating more. I was looking at wesspur's rope ends yesterday. Thought I might want another 16strand lanyard, cause the other 5+ lanyards I have just aren't enough :^S

I'm not worried about it. The time I lost the one I lost, I was in brush a mini excavator couldn't really get through. Those were extreme circumstances. You can't worry about everything. There's no such thing as perfect. There's good enough for the task at hand, and a balance of risk vs reward...

Got a Morakniv Craftline Basic today. Couldn't help myself... Pretty nice for a <$12 knife. A little shorter than the Companion, and doesn't have rubber on the hilt, so it doesn't feel as nice in-hand. For the price, it would be worth buying a few and leaving them in locations where they...

I like fixed blade knives for work and safety. The whole idea is being fast and easy to deploy. If you have to dick around with biners, retaining straps, and tight locations, your system's failed. That fixed blade he showed in the video looked like a good choice. I carried a blunt tipped Remora...

I picked amazon for convenient purchase, but you should be able to find a wider selection of blades from a dedicated knife store. Hard to go wrong with the #1 carbon steel though.

You can get Mora knife blanks very reasonably. Might be a fun project, and if it doesn't work out, it cost less than a $20 bill. Birch is traditional, but you could also go with something like antler, or bog oak would be really cool, but maybe better for the second knife after you perfect the...

It's not a new knife, but a favorite I've been looking for over a month now. Found it this morning under a clump of paracord. I'm also missing a clump of paracord, but not the one from this morning, so I still have searches to look forward to :^D

Not Damascus, but puukkos are very traditional, and range from plain to fancy. It's what I like in a fixed blade... https://www.amazon.com/s?k=puukko edit: It's not traditional, but Damascus puukkos exist...

I think so. I love their knives, and I consider the Companion essential carry at this point. They aren't the sexiest knives with all the plastic and rubber, but they're very well made and functional at almost disposable prices. It's not a huge heartbreak if one gets lost or something.

I carry one every day at work, and I carry it climbing also. Mine's the carbon steel blade though. Apparently Scandinavian work clothes come with a button that the sheath is made to fit, so it hangs on the button. This is what I did... It's a short piece of paracord with a stopper on one...

I keep a tiny vicegrips in my work belt. The primary purpose is to hold a piece of hacksaw blade for marking concrete, but it's generally useful to have around.

The two main contenders were the Rebar and the Bond(which I got). The Rebar has replaceable wire cutters and locking blades. The replaceable cutters were a little interesting, but I had my main Leatherman > 20 years, and though the cutter wasn't pristine, it still worked fine. Having screws...

Just got this today... I've managed to lose all my Leathermans, and it's something I rely on. I think this is the cheapest they make, and the closest to the original PST. I consider non locking blades a design flaw, but my main interest is in the pliers, and they seem to have corrected some...

I prefer pocket stones to bench stones. Not saying they're objectively better, it just works better for me moving the stone across the knife rather than moving the knife across the stone. A medium Arkansas followed by a hard Arkansas is sufficient for any working knife, or just the hard for a...

Looks practical, and it's certainly cheap. Not for me personally. I'm generally against disposable stuff, and I enjoy caring for a regular blade. What I find most interesting is the bit driver. They sell little metal tubes you can put stuff like pills in for travel. You could put additional bits...

I was looking on their site. A lot of nice looking knives. I guess they don't market much beyond Scandinavia. My two language/currency choices were Norwegian and Swedish.
