saws with mind of their own

Bummer. Canned gas is still my only suggestion. Never really had that problem down here. Maybe we get different additives, or the corn free I buy doesn't have them at all. I'm using fuel I bought in December, so if it changes to winter mix, that should be it, but everything's fine.

I use zippo fluid in the handwarmers. Well, I did anyway, back when it still got cold.

I'll take feeling a little dumb for a cheap easy repair every time. Glad it was easy.

Pulled the muffler to take a look? Might have had an air leak giving you the idle problem, then it leaned out on the sustained throttle.

Hmm... Funny you mention the premix. That's what's mainly in my 2511 atm. I had a can I wanted to get rid of, so I used it on the maple takedown. Most of it went into my 661(no problems), but the rest went into the 2511, and the hip flask liquor bottle I keep a bit of fuel in. I'm still working...

There's something to be said for a quiet saw. That's one of the things that keeps me pushing my 2511 mod to "maybe later". Try just using it. If you're happy with the performance, it's good enough.

The corn free I get only comes in one grade. It's either 90 or 91. I can't remember.

How much 2stroke fuel do you use cory? I'm wondering if it would be better just buying premixed all the time. Costs more, but it should be healthier to breathe, and fewer mystery issues with the saws. Maybe there's a place close to you? https://www.aspenfuels.us/outlets/find-dealer/ I paid...

Pickup a can of premix, and see if your saws behave better with that.

Autotune issue where the heat confuses it? That doesn't seem right, but it's the only variable I can think of. I'm assuming you go through gas in a timely fashion, so it isn't old gas getting weird in the heat. I was milling today wondering why I was feeling so much heat in my face. Unrelated...
