Welcome! I think that tree's a gonner in any meaningful sense. I can't tell you what's wrong with it(I'm not an arborist), but I don't think it'll ever look good considering the extent of the damage. Hopefully, someone can tell you what's wrong, and you can prevent it after planting a new tree.
