    Prussik vs Climb Line Diameter

I didn't use it for a long while after discovering it cause I couldn't make sense of tying it. I'd look at the diagram, and think "WTF?!", and put it aside. I eventually ran into the "69" diagram, and it all clicked. Very easy to tie, and hard to tie wrong. I like easy knots, especially when...

    Prussik vs Climb Line Diameter

Re stiffer rope... That new beeline is pretty stout, especially compared to the Sterling I was using. I don't quite trust it at this time, but I still need to get it around some rope to see how it feels. Going a bit off topic... What do you think of the zeppelin bend for joining rope for...

    Prussik vs Climb Line Diameter

Cool, I'll give it a try. It isn't enough to climb on, but I have enough to make a complete system.

Yea, I especially liked that bowline paper. The bowline's a favorite of mine, but I never trusted the security. The Scotts Locked Bowline looks like it improves on the standard, and is easy to tie. It isn't substantially different from the standard.

    Prussik vs Climb Line Diameter

All my lines are static. The one I'm currently using is NewEngland KMIII(all my climb line came through these guys as a bag of ends)... https://www.cmcpro.com/equipment/476/ I also have StaticPro https://www.cmcpro.com/equipment/static-pro-lifeline/ and Lifeline...

Thanks Spyder. I appreciate your posts. Usually takes me awhile to fully parse them due to the density of information. You're very analytical in your approach :^)

    Prussik vs Climb Line Diameter

The Blakes wouldn't hold at all. Like I said, I didn't have it properly dressed, so it could have been me, but it didn't want to grab a bit. The prussik OTOH, you can slop it on, and it wants to grab. I really like the plain old prussik. It can barely be considered tying, and it's easy to dress...

    Prussik vs Climb Line Diameter

My first attempt was a static rope. Rope looped over a crotch, with both sides bound with a prussik attached to my saddle. My intent was to footlock up, and advance the prussik. The reason I did that was I didn't want to burn my tree, and I was just playing. There wasn't any good reason to be in...

    Prussik vs Climb Line Diameter

I wouldn't say "no idea whatsoever", but virtually zero experience. I have a couple books, and have watched videos when I wanted clarification on something, but I'm not a big fan of video. When I want to do something, I go out and try it. If it doesn't work, I figure out what I did wrong, and...

    Prussik vs Climb Line Diameter

I didn't on the willow, but I like *my* trees :^P Not completely true. I like all trees, but the willow is low value, and fairly durable. I did try my homemade cambium saver, but it didn't work. It was a 3' length of 1" plastic well pipe. It had a couple potential failure points I foresaw, and...

    Prussik vs Climb Line Diameter

Never tried the tautline. I've used it before for tensioning tent lines and such, but never considered it for climbing. I'll give it a shot next time; maybe tomorrow. That same willow I took a limb off of has another limb that's broken and hung up in the tree. Tomorrow's supposed to relatively...

    Prussik vs Climb Line Diameter

My very first time trying to rope climb I sent a line up in one of my walnuts, and my goal was to get ~12' up, cut off a dead limb with my Silky, and come back down. Since I didn't have a cambium saver, I tried using the doubled rope(12mm) as a single line with a prussik(8mm) attached to my...
