I don't think it really matters as long as you like the alignment and the way things work. For a ropewrench I put everything in the middle hole, and connect the chestbox to the upper hole. For mrs, I don't like using it as directed for two reasons. First, I use knots, not splices, and the knots...

I like the hitchclimber colors. Mine's a Treestuff version with the colors reversed; orange body, green sheave. I think it's an attractive combination. I also like that rope. Reminds of /something/... I can't quite put my finger on it. I'm leaning towards 80s throwback, or a kind of...

I'm ok using someone else's knots if they're easy to inspect. Apparently you can tie a poachers knot wrong so it fails. I saw it mentioned on a video, where the guy said someone fell from tying the knot wrong. I fooled with it for a minute, but I couldn't figure out how to tie wrong where it...

Yea, I "overtighten" the hitch so once it's weighted, it's hopefully pretty close to right. I overtightened a French prusik once. I was hoping it would slacken, but never did. I brute forced my way into the tree, but I had to retie it once I got up there. It took probably 65% of what I had just...

Hard to see in the pic, but it doesn't look terrible. Good visibility, and that's what important. My vote for ugliest rope is Arbormaster BRW. I *really* don't like the way it looks, but visibility is good, and the build is great. They have(had) better colors though. Arbormaster got delisted...

It's pretty good cord. I downgraded mine for rigging, cause I needed a quick prusik once, that was easily at hand. It's also on the thick side, and isn't ideal for the skinny rope I've been using. It's on the 'acceptable' list though if I'm shopping for thicker cord.

No real concerns regarding the cord. It's just a matter of whether it'll work well for you or not. It could bind up too tight if your carrier rope is on the thick side. A starting point is keeping your prusik 80% the size of the climbline. You can adjust from there if it doesn't do quite what...

You can non destructively turn that hand ascender into a knee ascender pretty easily. It's size makes it a little chunky, but it'll work ok. You can then decide how much you want to pursue it. Buy a ready made system, modify the hand ascender further, or drop the whole thing.

Yea, my hands are mainly for balance and spacial reference. I do pull with my hands/arms, but I need to get out of that habit. It fatigues my hands and only provides a trivial assist to propulsion.

I've never used a hand ascender, and I was thinking of ways to rig something cheap. A Bachman hitch and a piece of wood would do it I think. I might try it some time if I'm bored, but probably not. I don't see where a hand ascender would really fit into my system.

Never did sit/stand, but it's super easy hacking together a ropewalk system. Some kind of ascender, some kind of bungie, and some miscellaneous pieces of webbing and cord will get one together.

Good first shot at a new method of ascending! You might want to consider a chestbox, lanyard, or some other method of bring the rig up with you. I have a simple one Jonny made me. It's just thin webbing that goes around my arms, and I put a little paracord "ultrasling" on it so I has adjustment...

Doesn't look much cheaper than buying one. Biggest benefit I see is the ability to customize the color.

I can't answer that for sure, but my impression was the original and 2 were identically sized, and the only difference was the materials on the body. Maybe someone who's used both can confirm?
