    Stihl 440Mag vs. 460...

It's not my favorite, but it's stupid accurate. It can drill the small side of a brick at 35 yards.

    Stihl 440Mag vs. 460...

I too have a hard time noticing the pound between 440/460s. Those who can I bet can tell when the fuel is getting low :P

    Stihl 440Mag vs. 460...

It gets boring waiting for it to get through the wood, and expensive while looking at your help just standing around.

    Stihl 440Mag vs. 460...

 Back when I did it, I was 18ish and the 44 was the biggest saw I had. The max length, IMO, varies with the person's expectations. Now that I don't want to sit behind a log all day getting it bucked up into pieces we can man handle, I bought some bigger saws and a mini. :D

    Stihl 440Mag vs. 460...

    My 660 has a 20" bar on it, and my 088KD has a 21" I have a 28" and 36" for it though I normally keep the 20" on the 660 and a 41" on the 088.

Hell I've ran a 044 with a 36" bar, regular chain. Ain't nothin to it but to do it.

    Stihl 440Mag vs. 460...

    After I bought a 460, I haven't bought another 440. I kept a 20" on the 460, with an 8 pin sproket.

    Stihl 440Mag vs. 460...

 So he should keep it because it's sentimental to you. The majority I've seen are $4-600, but it's not a gun I'm overly familiar with.

    Stihl 440Mag vs. 460...

    Value wise, what's a Hi Power worth, $800 max? A new 460 is $950ish here I beleive.
  11. lumberjack

    Stihl 440Mag vs. 460...

Over it's life, the 460 could buy its replacement and a few HP's.
  12. lumberjack

    Stihl 440Mag vs. 460...

460's are the bees knees, IMO. What kinda guns does he like? Dad ran over a 440 this weekend with the tractor. Needs a new fuel tank, handle bar, and carb/air filter holder oner thing. I'd say a high power for a like new 460 is a good-flipping good deal for the new owner of the saw.
