Limbs snagging your rope on the way down is very common and an easy way to avoid that is to coil it up and hang it off of your saddle while cutting. It's not very common practice but IMO it should be. A very wise tree man Jerry B. has that outlined in some of his videos and is a tip I wish I saw...
