    SRT near miss

I hear ya. It's not for everyone. My partner has tried just about every piece of SRT gear around and he is not a fan of most of it. He keeps trying it know because he sees how much I like it. We have wasted more than a few bucks on gear we didn't like. The Petzl Rig being the last at $170. But I...

    SRT near miss

Haven't had a chance to try it. We went out today but 25mph winds and single digit high temps kept me grounded. Next week isn't looking much better. Monday and Tuesday I am going to be at the Arborist conference but it's supposed to be - 4 and - 6 for highs those days. We can't win this winter...

Moonshine, chess, and vomit.... Is that a normal end to a work day for you? If so, can I come work for you too? Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2

Yeah I have the stiff tether that came with it from tree stuff. I'm thinking of getting a Whipple one instead. I like using the HC instead of the Pinto type and I think the Whipple would fit better with the HC. I think I may try a bungee tether... But i do like my webbing one. I like how it...

I actually don't have the HH. I'm wrenching right now. I do have an over the shoulder tether to advance the RW but it's made out of webbing. Is bungee material better? Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2

Your probably right. I was testing it out with a longer sling and switched to this one for some unknown reason. Ill have to switch back.

This is what I came up with for now. Foot goes in the green loop and the bungee clips to the ring on my bridge. I doubled up on the bungee and covered it with some Blaze sheath. I haven't field tested it yet but it seems to work inside. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2

I played around today and made one out of my Microsender. I'll take a pic tomorrow and post it here. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2

Thanks Sean and Jack. We are inside today again due to the weather and I already have the items to make a floating ascender like you guys use. As much as I want to cut the hand ascender apart, I'm not going to. I will be using a micrograb for the time being. My partner (Nate) is making one out...

There is a hole on top to put a biner to lock the ascender on. I'm not sure if it would have prevented my glove/thumb from catching the cam. It wouldn't have hurt. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2

    SRT near miss

For the record, I would never even think of blaming any one else but me for what happened. I admit that it was my choice of equipment and then my misuse of the equipment that caused this. I would be interested to see if others are using similar setups as I did. If it becomes very common then I...

Paul, do you recommend against using ascenders with the HH? I don't remember seeing anything in the instructions that came with the one being passed around from Treestuff. I don't recall anything being said with the wrench either. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2

    SRT near miss

I was never upside down. My leg was just bent way up when the Pantin caught. I just had to stand up on it to reset my hitch. The ascender was kind of tangled in the wrench. It took some fidgeting to undo it.... Plus the finger of my glove was caught in the cam still. It was just a messed up...

I think that would work fine, however it would take too long to set up to be worth the hassle. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2

This would take some tweaking but might be possible. It wouldn't be real efficient I think. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2

I think the same thing would have happened without the wrench or with the HH. I think the ascender would have released the hitch regardless. I have always heard you need to be super careful with any ascender above a hitch. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2

    SRT near miss

Today I was climbing a maple with a hand ascender, rope wrench, and Pantin. I had a straight up ascent in mid air to about 40ft. I got to about 30ft when my glove got stuck in the cam of the ascender and slid down. In the process it jammed down onto the wrench which made my hitch slide down. The...
