It was recommended by the mills tax attorney. He said being a part time deal that is how he would go to start out. Give it a few years and if needed make changes later. I'm not a tax guy by any means so I took his word on it.
He said there is a lot less bs operating as an llc vs s-corp. I...
He may go for that. There is a slight chance lol. The next time I have one I'll see if he will give it a go.
Took your advice Sean. Started the inc. process a few weeks ago. Now I'm just waiting on the state to get all their crap in order.
DS ARBOR LLC. Hopefully I'll get my stuff back by the...
lol I donno if he would go for it. I'd have to find another harness. He is 6'2" about 250.
Not much on heights either.
From today+a box elder not pictured. A little racking tomorrow and set up to grind stumps on New Years weekend.
I may do that sometime Sean. I've made a few clips to put on my Facebook page. Mostly out of boredom. But I have to say they have brought in a few customers. So I guess it can be worth it to document and show some of your work. I've been looking for good portawrap videos on YouTube. I think...
Thanks again. We learned a lot. We set up a speed line for one tree. Negative rigged a few pieces.
I videoed several different things that way I could show my helper what certain things do. Like pretensioning a line when topping. (Safely from a lift). And whatletting a piece run will do/...
Finally finished up the pine job yesterday around 3. Ended up with 42 hours on the whole thing. Not to bad I guess. The little excavator was a huge help cleaning up and loading logs. I guess the thread can go back to what it was originally intended now that my derail is over with lol.
Got...
Saw vs rope sounds a lot like saw vs chaps. That high revving saw instantly choking and stalling followed by a scared oh F&;@.
I had my back to him. Turned around and just knew he had the saw in his leg/chaps. Then I saw the yellow stable braid shredded hanging out of the saw. Phewwwwwww lol
No kidding butch! Lol
Thanks it's stolen! (From my dad) good for skidding logs that's about it. It doesn't have enough arse to make the loader useful . Just wants to stand on its nose when weighted
3 to go. Lol this is taking a little longer than I thought it would.
We pretty much worked ourselves into a hole and didn't have any room to move around or do much. So we spent most of Saturday moving logs and straightening up our mess.
The trees on the south row were a lot closer together and...
Having a blast so far! First tree today we rigged out 75 percent of it before we dropped it. It's branches were to big for me to handle and keep away from the shop. That was good practice for my helper. He did good. The 2nd I just parked my trailer under me and dropped everything in to it...
Just got back from day 2. Only got 2 trees down wind was against me all day. 15mph. Gusts 20-25. Erie feeling to a new guy up there lol. It got calm and we fell one tree against the wind. Had a pull line in it and a 5:1. Gust popped up about the time it started over. Still got it in the hole I...
My brush is going to our mill. We have a large pit dug out in the side of a hill where we burn scraps. The log size stuff goes to my loader operator at the mill he has his own little saw setup at his house .
I'm thinking I may try to hunt one down at the end of the year. 75% of my time is spent cleaning up. Helper does great but doesn't get a whole lot done by the time I get down because he is watching my back for me. Which at this point I don't mind having the 2nd set of eyes
I haven't found a place close enough to rent one from yet. The closest is about 1 1/2 drive one way. It's about a 5 min drive to to mill where I'm dumping it. I'm just a tick behind on my time estimate. May make it up now since I have some room to work with. Still figuring 3 more good hard...
Got 4 of the 15 down. 11 to go. Toped the first tree and pulled over the spar into the lane between the 2 rows. Open up a nice hole to work with tomorrow.
Moved to the front yard. Didn't top those two. Limbed them up and took as much weight as I could away from the lay off them. Pulled them...
All the trees average 12-15' between them. I've Thought about rigging them off another spar. Especially since my helper failed last time on a honey locust top I guess you'd say. He let the top run about a foot then slammed on the brakes. Luckily I was in a nifty lift. A lot of whipping on...
Well as I was looking at a neighbors tree I got flagged down by the owner of the 15 pines job. Said I had the job if I was still interested.
Felled the smallest of the bunch ( and I do mean small).
Started up the one next to it have it limbed up and ready to knock the top out of. Should of...
No news on the pine job I was hoping to get. Haven't heard from the homeowner. Wife may have told him no. May be a good thing tho. It's looking like rain is fixing to set in and I'm starting to get swamped at the mill again with this stacker. All my parts I've had ordered are starting to roll...
