On those cookies I'm letting them warp and gonna make art out of them. 2d pics don't do the 3d warp justice. For drying wood, assuming I mill some, I will store in a shipping conex and thought about making a giant sticker/clamp with some I beam or square tube and allthread. Also probably coat...

    Drying eucalyptus

We went back and forth and ended up on plastic cuz the wood is poky and dirty and people put it in their cars. Also less skill required to wrap/tie. If i was doing it, yeah twine.

Handling this big old dry hard arched log, it rolled on the forks…feels as hard and smooth as glass. Would be cool to figure out how to finish wood with pressure like that.

    Drying eucalyptus

Today I was able to split enough fast enough to keep a man busy loading the trailer (with a little head start) with my cyclone splitter. I was doing the yellow stuff…halve it first, then split the easy stuff out of the rind…left the rinds in a stack to noodle later.

    Drying eucalyptus

Oh, I know...I have a lot of stuff that's been down decades. Some is deteriorated, some is still very intact. The first swing tells the tale. I have found if I cut it into rounds and leave them a year or two it helps...seems a bit stringe since they've already been down so long. Half...

    Drying eucalyptus

Very well @Trains I got better at hydro splitting it but it’s also easy to slice the rind with the saw and the inner parts split with half power 6lb swings

    Drying eucalyptus

Ok Aussie friends…what’s this horribly twisted yeller stuff that turns into crooked kindling instead of splitting? I may try sawing the spiral rind to get it straight but previous experience is that it pinches once cut.

Possibly but doubtful. Doesn’t seem like it. Decades drying in a desert…

    Drying eucalyptus

I shouldn’t have said I learned about forky knotty wood. I knew better and did it anyway. Also as hard as it was to noodle I’m afraid to try milling it. But what’s really cool is it’s already dry. No waiting for the return on investment hoping it doesn’t warp crack mold rot whatever. Put oil and...

    Drying eucalyptus

I’d like to see some, someday. I picked up a 20 year old firewood round last night, not very big, but it felt like concrete. I learned something the hard way. I sliced up two logs that had a lot of big limbs, forks, crotches. Was a lot of work, yielded screwed up pieces of wood. I should have...
