Still, that's a beefy trade in price. There's nothing better than trading in a pos and getting good coin for it.

No way would my dealer. They suck. Keep the saw for weeks or months too. Sucky dealer. I need a new chipper, hopefully I will be able to buy from someone else besides them.

Do you have an early edition 201? They all suck hugely. I have 3 newer 201s with lots of hours on them, they rock same or better as a 200. Reg your current 201, buy a 201 and a 540, get back to us in 6 months.

My "bad" 201s were like that, wouldn't cut much for the first 30+ seconds, it used to drive my insane. Heck, its a small saw, 30 seconds after starting all the intended cutting should often be finished by then.

I feel like there has been mostly complaints in this and other threads. Well I hope you get it squared away. I have newer 201s which have been fine. But I had an older 201 which was horrendous. The dealer kept it for eons and replaced most everything on it but it now, unbelievably, works fine...

Its impossible to make a living in tree work without saws that work more or less flawlessly.

It is sounding like the 540 is exactly like the 338- it cuts great when it works, which is rare. The saw has virtually no longevity.

the 201s that actually work are fine.

Well that's a pretty good recommendation. What is 2139, Jonsereds? Mighty interesting info. Thanks Reg.

Snipe sounds good but if I'm gonna snipe it, why not face and back cut it? Yes, last cut must be lower than first cut, always afaik.

Good vid. I dunno, I actually may have to try that on the ground before I use it up in the tree on a 16"x10' section. Hats off to you for mastering it and using it daily basis. More good info, thanks, Reg.

Awhile ago. I think I had 3 or 4 of them. When new, they cut great and were ergonomic. But soon the air leaks occurred which were basically unfixable by the dealer. I sold them off with low hours for $25 each and was overjoyed to be rid of them. I read Squish had trouble with his re air leaks...

That's a good sign. That is an excellent analogy, but a big difference re pushing that sized piece on the ground is you would be pushing about 5' up from the cut instead about 2' up when in the tree, so there is more leverage. Sawing some lean into it with the first cut is an excellent idea...

Nice vid, Reg. That saw cuts like a beaver on meth. I will be interested to see its durability, and will honestly be surprised if it is still doing well after a year or so, cuz it is related to the 335s and 338s. But for your sake, hopefully it will meet or exceed the standard set by the 0200...
