Another material I have been looking at is Validator 12 - its a hollow braid but stronger than amsteel. http://www.ashleysling.com/validator-12-rope.htm http://www.ashleysling.com/amsteel-blue-rope.htm Either would be easier to splice but would pick and wear more similarly to tenex. You could...

Thats nuts... That outrigger span was pretty intense. I think the 1750 is the biggest one being used for treework IIRC. Mikes is a pretty nice first KB though. We dont want to give him crane envy :)

Yeah the effer 1750 is a 175ton knuckleboom. The load chart lists 3600 lbs @ 105' straight side reach. Crazy. http://www.efferusa.com/Crane%20PDFs/1750.pdf

David Driver from Treebuzz has a reel of it and one of his guys does it, I read about it on tread over there. AdamP here on Treehouse told me he could do it for me if I got him the rope, no reason he couldnt do it for you... Beware though Amsteel2 and Amsteel 2 + have 'special' splicing...

Great pictures Mike! I hope the KB is everything you guys hoped for it looks sweet. Are you loving it? I would think that some Amsteel 2 Slings (3/4" 37,200 lb mbs - 1" 60,600 lb mbs) attached to your 'hook' with dead eyes would work well. I think using a dead eye sling would be perfect because...

Mike, That looks like a great investment, congrats! Can you share some about the experience buying it. Trucks and motors arent my strong suit so if I was buying something like that I would be clueless. Did you more or less know what you wanted? Did you consider anything else? What kind of...
