For fun, we tip tied a small Bradford pear to a large poplar stem and slowly lowered it, cutting off 4’ pieces with each descent. 🤣 Absolutely could have been dropped in my yard but this was more funer.

John and I rigged down a dead 50’ x 8” dia red oak limb above a driveway and in ground basketball hoop. 2 portys and both tip and but ties. Probably could have spider legged it but getting to the tip of the long, dead, and very slippery limb would have had challenges. The tip tie was set from...

I like a nice ring & ultra sling combos for light and medium/light applications for ease of use and portability. My rigging ropes will last 5 years with the amount of work they do being a part timer.

You’d probably need a block for 3/4” rigging to get proper bend radius running 3/8”.

Definitely rings but most blocks don’t meet manufacturers requirements (if I’m remembering correctly), especially for larger ropes.

I was surprised when first researching rigging and bend radius of ropes that blocks didn’t accommodate manufacturers recommendations. 🤷‍♂️

Off plumbing job today. Took out a long dead hemlock for an older couple I love. Richard (homeowner) is standing in front of the tree. He’s kept his British accent and lingo despite being in the States for a great many years. He planted all the trees in the background and a great many more. Kept...

Yeah, what Stig said above. Just sarcasm. I wasn’t sure how it would translate between cultures and in print. You nearly never work in areas where you could drop a whole tree, it seems.

Couldn’t just drop em?! Looks like you had plenty of room! ;) Pretty tense to work with vehicles passing through underneath of you.

Took out a hollow / top broken out maple in a backyard overhanging the deck. Used 2 climbing systems in the adjacent poplar for experimentation. Could have been taken in 2 cuts rigged to the poplar as well. Next door neighbor (to the removal) had me thin and slightly raise what I believe to be...

Trimmed a Japanese maple and cherry blossom today. Get away from home and clean up the cherry’s tips. Took down a dead and unidentifed softwood with a maple hanger above it. Kept enough tree for the ninja course. This was for my sister. Brother in law helped load the trailer and it was nice...

I topped a red oak as well as a previously nicely structured white oak today. Both trees were in great shape but the homeowner was afraid of them so I told them that we need to give em a haircut ASAP so the occupants of the home aren’t killed. Wait till they find out that I’m gonna have to come...

John and I finished the 23 dead spruce job. It was done in 3 stages. 2 of the remaining trees came down in the wind and the neighbor cut them up and piled them. It wasn’t easy to sort through. Blew the chips on site and spread them as mulch. We had to use the chainsaw inside the chipper to...
