How long do your saws last?

Remember the grocery store likely isn't a big rig fuel depot, so the fuel will likely be subpar. You might check with your local fuel delivery company and see if you can just show up with a drag tank to start.

How long do your saws last?

Little known fact, in the us, and I'm sure just about everywhere, all fuel comes from the same place in the area. There are pipelines that distribute gasoline and diesel in each general area (some are quite large areas btw) there is a very large tank farm, where trucks pick up fuel and take it...

How long do your saws last?

I don't care if you are running non stop with with gas station oil and 100 percent ethanol, you shouldn't be able to burn a saw up in a month. Sounds like they had the carb wayyyyy to lean at best, shitty ring and hone job at worst (if they even do that on saws anymore, i thought they pretty...

Run the synthetic, but at 40 to 1. Tune saw after removing epa stops. Tada. The synthetic burns clean even at a heavy mix, saw will last much longer.

How long do your saws last?

2 stroke oil has stabilizers in it, worse case i would use sea foam, been around longer and is an awesome product. You can also use sea foam in diesel, so if you get a bad batch of fuel or condensation in it, add some sea foam and it will go from spitting and sputtering with no power to running...

How long do your saws last?

Thx Cory, but it's nothing special, and I'm not that good yet. I feel Jim is great at it, as are just about everyone here. I started mowing at 12 years old, and then when stuff breaks, you have to fix it, you don't have a choice. I've got buddies that are actually good, one was doing complete...

How long do your saws last?

Thx Roger, learned some stuff there! Lol Merle, i dunno. I have a dolmar 7900 and 3410th, so i use my top handle for about everything, then whip out the big boy. I think a mid range saw around 50 cc would be a nice addition. I have an old dolmar 120 that needs some love, but since its all...

How long do your saws last?

Forgive my extreme ignorance, i know woods ported are "less hot" than race saws, but what exactly do they do to woods port them? What does a woods port job entail?

How long do your saws last?

Did someone run straight gas in it? Or was the carb adjusted so incredibly lean that it fried? I would demand a new one due to failure of the rebuild rather than give them another dime. That's ridiculous that a saw would need a rebuild that soon

How long do your saws last?

Yup. A family friend, who was a cat engine engineer (but wrenches on everything for fun) explained to me that the engines themselves haven't changed since the heavier mixes, they just rely on the better oil to do its job better. Run oil heavy, and then tune accordingly, because heavy oil...

How long do your saws last?

Ss, I'm curious how it would need a complete rebuild at all... at that price i assume it's not getting compression?

How long do your saws last?

I personally feel that my neglect of machinery and using old resurrected stuff has made me the mechanic i am today! After you do so many carbs, occasional head gasket and valves that water got in, etc you learn that engines aren't really some super magical thing, and that if it has fuel, spark...
